The Daytona Forks are a perfect complement to the design and performance of the Type-C chassis. They are strong, reliable, temperature stable and require very little maintenance which makes them the only choice for a 1/5th scale RC bike. They have been race proven at the highest levels and have amazed everyone that has used them.
Design
The Forks came out of a requirement to have a reliable, accurate and easy to maintain set of forks that would last the distance and still give the flexibility to perform on all tracks. While designing and testing the prototypes certain changes were made to the dimensions and the design, this evolution process is still going on and changes are still in the pipeline. The production forks no longer have the self contained Mini-t style dampers, the triples have been reinforced, and the outer legs have been anodized.
Construction
The Daytona Forks have a similar construction to the Type-R Chassis and associated parts. The outer fork legs are turned from a solid piece of aluminium and so are straight and true, they are then hard-anodised to give a hard wearing and smooth surface. The inner legs are again turned but this time from Delrin, a strong and self-lubricating material. For the coil over dampers the inner leg is hollowed out, oil filled and capped. The damper action because of this is very long allowing a very smooth and progressive action.
